Insider Tip: Join In the Local Art Scene
One of the main things that sets South Walton apart from other beach destinations is the incredible variety of activities to choose from when you're not relaxing on the sugar-white sand. Look no further than the incredible local arts community that covers any conceivable avenue for creativity. Better yet, this scene is seriously committed to including everyone in the artistic process, from hands-on classes to highly interactive events.
If you're looking to take a break from the beach, you've got plenty of options for dipping your toe into the art world.
Paint with the Artist of the Year
2018's Artist of the Year, Kathleen Broaderick, holds regular painting workshops at her studio, CHROMA, in Santa Rosa Beach. Often focusing on the flora, fauna and landscapes around her, Kathleen imbues beautiful subjects with bold colors and deep emotions. She encourages participants to bring snacks and drinks as they learn to paint one of her works, step-by-step.
Create Your Own Shard Art
Make your own masterpiece with the unique Shard Art technique at The Shard Shop! Apply shards of glass to a painted canvas to create a mosaic-like effect that's like nothing you've seen before. Nestled in a cute cottage in Grayton Beach, this quaint shop also serves as a great place for a party or event. Gather a group of your friends or family together to bond over shared creativity!
